Simple Lines
Took a long walk around campus this weekend, just thinking and soaking up the sun. Vitamin D and a little bit of fresh air seems to be the cure for all of the stress that has been floating around campus. Had my first ice cream scoop of the season and it was glorious.
I have been obsessed with stripes for months now. Sometimes, stripes work for you, sometimes against. Horizontal stripes tend to make the body look wider while vertical stripes can slim you down depending on the thickness of the stripes and material. Also, stripes are not the most flattering pattern to be photographed in because they can flatten the body or because of the clear lines, draw attentions to the wrong places.
As a petite person, I have always shied away from maxi anything because the more affordable stores don’t carry petite sizes. This means I usually have up to 2 feet of extra fabric that I can trip over. Solution? I have none really, sometimes, I just get lucky and the length is just right. A pair of heels? Of course there is the seamstress that you can visit to have it hemmed but sometimes that costs more than the skirt itself. However, when you find that perfect maxi, it’s wonderful.
Outfit details:
Striped top: Abercrombie & Fitch, $11
Pleated skirt: The Limited, $17
